City of Monmouth, Oregon Welcome Brochure – 2025

The Challenge

Monmouth is a vibrant small city known for its welcoming community and rich history. Home to Western Oregon University, it blends a lively cultural scene with natural beauty and outdoor recreation. With a growing business environment and family-friendly atmosphere, Monmouth offers the perfect balance of charm and opportunity. The challenge was to create a visitor guide that captured this spirit while being fun, colorful, and easy to navigate, highlighting key attractions and locations with maps, including an event calendar, providing links to external resources, and quickly conveying essential information for students, families, and visitors.

The Solution

Inspired by the city’s logo, we crafted a vibrant and colorful design system that runs consistently throughout the brochure. We created custom illustrations styled to resemble stickers, adding personality and a creative touch. The event calendar is organized by season, featuring illustrated icons for each event to help readers quickly and easily spot what’s happening.

The map was designed for clarity and ease of use, with clearly labeled businesses, college locations, and street names to help visitors navigate effortlessly. Hand-illustrated “stickers” were placed on the map to highlight key landmarks, adding a playful yet informative element that draws attention to important spots. QR codes are thoughtfully integrated throughout the map to provide quick access to additional resources. 

On the back, local organizations such as the Monmouth Business Association, MICC, and Willamette Wine are showcased using custom “business card” style graphics to present their information in a more engaging and visually appealing way. These choices work together to create an intuitive, informative, and inviting experience for readers.
